22 Jul Spaghetti Bowl Xpress (SBX) Traffic Control Update Week of July 24
Spaghetti Bowl Xpress (SBX) Traffic Control Update | Week of July 24, 2022
Traffic control and detour maps are available here. Construction operations are weather dependent and subject to change.
New Second Street Ramp Opens Soon
A new southbound I-580 on-ramp from Second Street will open over coming weeks, carrying Second Street traffic entering southbound I-580 over the Mill Street off-ramp. Previously, drivers traveling from Second Street to southbound I-580 merged into Mill Street on-ramp traffic. Upon entering southbound I-580 from Second Street, drivers will not have an auxiliary interstate travel lane and will merge into southbound interstate lanes as part of a temporary construction configuration.
Known as a braided ramp, the new ramps will help reduce closely-knit merging streams of traffic by crossing on-ramp traffic over off-ramp traffic instead of two streams of traffic crossing each other on the interstate as they did in the past.
