Spaghetti Bowl Xpress (SBX) Project Update | December 16, 2022

Just in time for the Holidays!

NDOT’s Spaghetti Bowl Xpress Project is substantially complete!
We appreciate the community’s patience during the last two years of construction. 

Drivers will see minor traffic control for final landscaping and aesthetic improvements over coming months, and final striping will be installed when the weather is warmer. Traffic control will be communicated in advance. Please remember to drive safely through the work zone as crews put finishing touches on construction.

Additional Spaghetti Bowl and interstate improvements will be built in prioritized phases through 2039 as funding is identified. Through four additional phases of construction over coming decades, other areas of the Spaghetti Bowl and 12 miles of metro interstate will be renovated to enhance traffic safety and mobility.

This includes phase two improvements which will renovate the eastern leg of the Spaghetti Bowl through the heart of Sparks. Projected to start in 2024 and planned to widen I-80 to between three and five lanes, phase two improvements will include renovations to the existing viaduct bridge carrying I-80 over the Nugget Casino.
